Kawasaki added interest to the Z900 combination with a new SE model, which added upgraded brakes and suspension.

The shape of the Z900 SE draws on Kawasaki's "Sugomi" design concept, which makes the bicycle look in motion even if it is still. It has sharp angular details, exposed subframes and well-defined webs. For those who like a more classic look, check out the 2022 Kawasaki Z900RS SE.

The core of the Z900 SE is a liquid-cooled 948cc inline four-cylinder engine. In our 2020 test, it produced 113 horsepower at 9,800 rpm and 66 lb-ft of torque at 8,100 rpm on the rear wheels. As we reported at the time, this lightweight and compact engine can start quickly and provide stable and smooth performance when pushed, but it is fully functional and can be driven easily. Standard electronic equipment includes power modes, traction control and integrated riding modes (sports, road, rain and rider [manual]).

The upgraded suspension of the Z900 SE includes a fully adjustable 41mm inverted fork and a fully adjustable Öhlins S46 rear shock with a remote preload adjuster. The new settings are expected to improve customization and handling.

The SE version also benefits from the new radially integrated Brembo M4.32 4-piston front caliper, squeezing 300 mm petal disc and Nissin radial pump master cylinder. At the back, there is a 250 mm petal disc with 2-piston calipers. ABS and steel braided brake lines are standard.

The cast aluminum five-spoke wheels of the Z900 SE are equipped with Dunlop Sportmax Roadsport 2 tires. Although the turn signal is still an old bulb type, all other lights on the Z900 SE are LEDs. The large 4.3-inch color TFT instrument panel with selectable background color (black or white) and screen brightness automatically switches between the levels set by the three riders to adapt to the available light. The Bluetooth connection is compatible with smartphone devices and Kawasaki's Rideology app.

Offering a full range of Kawasaki original accessories, the options of the Z900 SE include crankcase protector, instrument cover and Akrapovic slide-in exhaust device. The 2022 Kawasaki Z900 SE is available in metallic sparkle black/candy lime green, and the suggested retail price is US$10,699.
